We stopped by our friend's house to make good on our T-Day offer to help in any way we could. Alas, we must've just missed Mom and son, realizing as we played with their dog and talked with the goats, that it was Tuesday, and Tuesday afternoon includes soccer . . . Hmmm.
Well, while we were there, we found ways to be supportive:
We gave the goaties some grain, mostly 'cause they love it more than anything else. Big Z gave them pats on the heads and talked to them, and even re-named them. I noted the goaties were almost out of frozen water ---
We gave the doggie lots of pats and rubs and accolades, and also noted her water was still frozen ---
So, off went the hose bib cover, but attaching the frozen hose wasn't an option. We used the dog's dish to fill the big bucket for the goaties instead, and since the sun was shining, it was fun ;-). Getting the hose bib back on was a puzzle for some reason . . . grrr.
Afterwards, Big Z noted the dog was in the garden and asked, "Is it okay for S. to be in the garden, Mom?"
By taking a peek while telling him that I thought it was okay since it was fallow at the time, I saw the the doggie girl was eating trash . . . tin foil as part of it. So, we picked up all the little pieces and cleaned up the debris. I soon found a garbage bag that made it likely as far as the compost bucket, but not over the fence to the garbage. The sweet girl found all sorts of delightful odors that attracted her and she had it all spread out. I picked it all up and into the ripped trash bag, thankful, as there was some broken glass in it that we surely didn't want the doggie to be cut by accidentally.
Big Z got to play some hoop at towards the end, and I sat on the step enjoying the sun rays. We never saw our friends, but it was so good to help them with these small, but meaningful tasks.
