Dreamer Reminds Us to Continue to Dream

{1st portion of this post copied from our 4/16/09 post.}

Today I was blessed to see a story about a woman who has held her dream in her heart from the time she was twelve. She is now 47. She gave a promise to her dying mother that she would sing. Fulfilling her promise, and in honor of her mother, Susan Boyle, from a small village in Blackburn, Scotland, has captivated the world with her beautiful voice. Her story goes to show that no matter what odds we may face in life, or how old we become, we can still live out our dreams, sometimes in most unexpected ways.

Click to View YouTube Video. I've just watched her video again with Big Z, and I'm so glad the Internet has brought her story to our home. I am just as touched and captivated as the world.

Today, CBS gave an interview to two hosts of the show:

There were bits of this show that stood out for me. One was a comment that exemplifies another motivating "why" Susan has that propels her dream forward. In her interview from her home, she says to the camera, "I'd like to perform in front of the Queen (Elizabeth II) if I can. She's very regal lady, a very lovely lady." Wow. That's quite a specific goal ;-). And, it's a very courageous one.

Judges for Britain's Got Talent show, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan, have wonderful comments to say about Susan's incredible appeal and the uplifting example she provides the world. Read their exchange below, taken from the video clip above from the CBS Clip, "Susan Boyle Sensation Grows".

Amanda:

"It just goes to show, you know, you can dream your whole lifetime and dreams can still come true . . . anything is possible."

Piers:

". . . What the world needed from this recession, which has made everyone so depressed, is a bit of a tonic. And the great thing about this clip, and Susan's performance, is that we all watch it and we all just feel incredibly uplifted by her performance. And it shows, you know, America is about living the dream. Susan Boyle is the absolute personification of somebody who waited all this time, took her chance, and is living the most incredible dream."

Amanda:

"It can happen at any time for anyone."

And, I would add it can happen for you, too, right here, right now. Claim your right to live a dream. Your dream. There is no time like today to get started. Rather than be depressed and discouraged by the world situation, and economic conditions, be a dreamer like Susan Boyle. Risk. Stretch. Grow. Be Vulnerable. Stay true to yourself. Discover your passions in life, for they are the fuel that can propel you forward. Discover your why behind your dreams. Then take steps towards them each and every day.

Together We, along with all the other Susan Boyle's out there, Can Change The World!
